Short biography
Paul Patras is currently a research fellow at the Hamilton Institute of the National University of Ireland, Maynooth. Previously, he was a research assistant at Institute IMDEA Networks. Paul Patras got his Dipl.Eng. degree in Telecommunications in 2006 from the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, Romania. He obtained his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Telematics Engineering from the University Carlos III of Madrid, Spain in 2008 and 2011, respectively. In 2010 he was a visting intern at the Rice Networks Group of Rice University, Houston, USA. He serves as a reviewer for several international journals and conferences, including Elsevier Computer Networks, IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking, IEEE Communications Letters, IEEE Globecom and IEEE ICC.
Research areas
Paul Patras' research interests include performance optimization of IEEE 802.11 wireless LANs, adaptive MAC mechanisms, QoS provisioning in wireless mesh networks, dynamic spectrum access, prototype implementation and testbeds.
Paul Patras has been actively involved in the succesfully completed EU research projects CARMEN and DAIDALOS II.
